Way to Go, New York!

The New York state Senate voted in favor of same-sex legislation on Friday by a vote of 33-29. Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to sign it into law soon and should go into effect 30 days later, meaning same-sex couples could begin marrying in NY by midsummer! 

New York now joins Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the District of Columbia. 

What state will follow next??? Perhaps a state on the West Coast???

Happy Pride

Yesterday was Gay Pride in Phoenix and all I can say is those damn queens sure know how to party. I met up with my friend Steve and Fernando and we went to watch the parade and then head over to the festival. It was definitely good times. Here are a few pics from the parade.

The above picture got me teary eyed when they walked by. They were parents and siblings of a gay relative and their signs said, "We love our kids no matter what." Or "I love my gay son.". The little boys sign said "I love my gay sister." It was so dope. It makes me sad to think that parents would ever stop loving or give up on their child because of their sexuality.

Save Kish

In previous posts, I've mentioned that on the soap I watch, One Life to Live, they finally have a gay couple: Kyle Lewis and Oliver Fish (aka Kish) played by actors Brett Claywell and Scott Evans.  The story line followed the young men around having one of them come out of the closet; the duo even had onscreen sexy sexy time. It was a huge break through in daytime TV, and it saddens me to say that ABC has put the axe on the couple saying that the reason they're cutting them is because they weren't popular with the  "mainstream" audience; however we know what that means....older, ignorant bigots were complaining. Instead of fast-forwarding their DVR's they kept complaining until ABC heard them. Well now it's our turn to complain.....this isn't about just some TV show, this is about EQUAL RIGHTS! I don't know about you but I'm pissed off. First they say gays can't marry and now they're saying they can't be put on TV??! It's time for change. Even though you may not watch the soap, it's the principal....so please, sign the petition and make your voices heard.  Here are a few websites to check out:

Gaytime TV

It's no secret that I love TV which even includes a soap opera, One Life to Live. I've watched it for almost 20 years and I won't stop. They finally have a gay story line worth mentioning...and much man on man action. Wooop!

Calling in Gay

Gay rights activists have planned a nationwide boycott tomorrow. The event, called Day Without a Gay, encourages gays, lesbians and their supporters to take off work, refrain from shopping and spend the day volunteering somewhere.
This isn't a day for just hanging out at home, the activists want you to go out and be seen in public and fight for what you believe in. Check the website for volunteer and/or protest spots in your city

Equal Rights!

Gay marriage is a civil rights issue. It's about equality. It's about fairness. It's about time!

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 15th, all over America and Canada, concerned citizens will be peacefully demonstrating the passing of Prop H8te in California - and similar discriminatory measures in Florida, Arizona and Arkansas.

This is an issue that affects us in EVERY state!

It's about the rights, privileges and protections that come with civil marriage that are currently being denied to gay and lesbian couples. It's about discrimination. And we can't stand for it!

Hopefully YOU will join your friends, neighbors, coworkers, and relatives fighting for equality tomorrow. Stand with us. For what's right!
