R.I.P, Amy Winehouse

Although we don't know the cause of her death just quite yet, it's hard to deny Amy's battle with drugs. Over the last few years, we've all witnessed her bizarre behavior and so we all speculate drugs were the cause of her death. Regardless if this is the case or not, I wish Amy peace now; as the daughter of a heroin addicted mother, I understand the disease Amy had and wish her family peace and comfort at this time.

J Dilla Tribute

The boys over at Dearly Departed have done it again. They have teamed up with the J Dilla Foundation (thanks Ma Dukes), Rhyme & Reason Radio, and others to bring you what is going to be one memorable night. All proceeds go to the J Dilla Foundation, in addition Dearly Departed will also be releasing an exclusive DD x J Dilla Foundation t-shirt. Don't sleep on this one!!!! It's going to be major! Come out and support a great cause all while hearing the dopest Dilla beats!  TURN IT UP!

"The Mission of The J Dilla Foundation is to help fund inner-city music programs, and provide scholarships to students attending schools that have progressive music curricula.

The foundation was started by Maureen Yancey, mother of acclaimed producer James “Jay Dee aka J Dilla” Yancey. J Dilla was a Grammy award winning record producer and artist who emerged from the mid-1990s underground hip-hop scene in Detroit, Michigan. According to NPR.org, he was one of the music industry’s most influential hip-hop artists, working for big-name acts such as Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes, Common and Janet Jackson.

J Dilla passed away in 2006 after long suffering with Lupus and the rare blood disease TTP. “Dilla was about love in many formats,” Maureen states. “One of the things he wanted me to do with his legacy was to use it to help others… kids who were musically gifted but had little hope due to poverty.” It is the foundation’s hope that by funding and encouraging such progressive music curricula, young prodigies, and music enthusiast alike will have the tools and support they need to flourish and become successful within the entertainment industry. The importance of urban music in academia is also heavily stressed."

Life Unexpectedly Cancelled

I don't know about you, but I am a TVaholic. Seriously, can't get enough. I am ALWAYS finding new shows to DVR and get addicted to. The bf is always talking shit because when he comes home, he finds my in my pj's, in bed, watching TV, no matter what time of day. Don't get me wrong, I work, go to school, make time for friends, family, and activities, but for real, my hobby is TV watching. LOL. And when shows I absolutely love gets cancelled, I feel like a little piece of me dies with it. I mean, I put so much time into these shows, and when they unexpectedly get cancelled, it's even worse. Take for instance, CW's Life Unexpected show... there were rumors it would get cancelled, but there was no final announcement until I watched this weeks episode. The ending says it all. If you watch this show, let me know, I need someone to cry with! R.I.P Life Unexpected, you will be missed!

Oh and on a side note, really CW, you cancelled this show, but you're keeping Nakita?! Wack. No offense to you Nakita fans. Ha.

Don't Drink And Drive This NYE

This video isn't for the faint of hearts....it's pretty graphic but it does get the point across

Too many young people are dying at the hands of drunk drivers, take it upon yourself this NYE and call a cab if need be. Or Arizonans toasting this new year have another option to get home safely after the party.

AAA Arizona is offering free rides with its Tipsy Tow Service which provides a one-way ride for the driver, one passenger and their vehicle for up to 10 miles at no cost.  The service however, will not take you to the bar.

The service can be reached at 800-AAA-HELP between 6p.m. NYE and 6a.m. the next day.

Drunken-driving task forces will be operating in the state over the holiday weekend to catch those who get behind the wheel after drinking....don't be one of them!

One Year Later...

It's been exactly one year since the music world lost one of their DJ's, DJ AM. Although I didn't know him personally, I was a fan of his art.... and he and I share a mutual friend, whom although I don't talk to often, I am thinking of you today, Fashen.

Gone But Not Forgotten

Yesterday marked the first anniversary of Michael Jackson's death; although he is gone, his music continues to live on. Here's on of my favorite songs!

Love No More

Jennifer Lopez and her record label, Sony Music, have went their separate ways; which means, no new album will be released!!!!!! Some are saying she's too much of a diva and demanding too much money and not bringing in enough sales. Again, I love you Jennifer, but you haven't had a hit record in about 7 years, do you really think it's necessary to make all these demands?

Take some advice of your own, Jennifer. Still love you though

R.I.P Brittany Murphy

Many people remember Brittany Murphy from movies such as Clueless, Girl Interrupted, 8 Mile, and Just Married, and the voice of Luann from King of the Hill,  just to name a few. She was only 32 years old.... such a sad day...5 days before Christmas too.

R.I.P, Patrick Swayze

Oh how I wanted a boyfriend like Johnny....

And for all of you that didn't know, he was also a singer. Here's a song he did from the Dirty Dancing movie.
